North GA parents demanding answers, says school bus driver gets physical with 6 year old son
CHATTOOGA, Georgia (WDEF) – A North Georgia family is demanding answers, following an incident where they say a school bus driver got physical with their 6-year-old. The school system says the incident was caught on camera, but they decided it wasn’t worth showing the parents.
The parents say that the school systems response is not enough. They believe that if it was worth disciplinary action, it is worth letting them see what went down, especially since their son came home bleeding from his mouth.
Chris and Melissa Buckley say that incident happened on October 18th to their six-year-old.
The Buckley’s say it was his “first year of school and he is already coming home with horror stories, crying because he peed on himself and bit his tongue because a bus driver jerked him around in his seat.”
6-Year-Old CJ says, “He grabbed me on the back of my handle on the back… on my bookbag. It hurted and it choked me.”
Little CJ’s parents say before coming to us, they tried to take care of the incident.
Chris Buckley says, “When I got to the bus garage they I can’t blame em, but they immediately backed their driver and said you know well it’s been a really rough bus route.”
The parents say the kids have had 3 drivers in the past year and the district should be taking a look at what’s going wrong.
His father says, “The school district needs to make an example… and show that they are committed to the safety and well being of our kids.”
The Chattooga County Superintendent says he did address the issue and after allowing the “appropriate authories” to view the video – they deemed the driver did nothing wrong.
Chris Buckley says, “I think the real reason they don’t want to show me that video its because it’s going to show just how much of the wrong that bus driver was in.”
Melissa Buckley says, “If my child is doing wrong, you contact me you don’t take it upon yourself and discipline my child.”
Chris Buckley says that after fighting for the country for over a decades, you better believe he will fight for the well being of her two children.
He can’t stomach the fact that is was an adult that has scared his son in a way that he doesn’t want to return to school.
Chris Buckley believes, “One child is worth the world in my eyes. Even if it’s somebody elses. and I don’t want anybody else’s kids or parents to have to go through this with their kids.”
CJ says he is afraid to return to the bus stop because “I think he’ll do that again.”
News 12 did reach out to the sheriff’s office who employee’s school resource officers. The Sheriff says he is out of town, but when he returns he will get back to us.
