Northshore crash suspect makes first court appearance
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The suspect in the deadly Frazier Avenue crash on Thanksgiving weekend made his first appearance in court Tuesday morning.
Hamilton County Judge Larry Ables gave Vega a $500,000 bond.
Both the defense and prosecution say there is need for more investigation before they hold a preliminary hearing. That hearing will take place in January 2024.
Northshore residents are also reacting to Monday’s announcement by Mayor Tim Kelly. He announced new traffic control measures coming to Frazier Avenue. Those changes will start this upcoming weekend.
The city will reduce the road to one lane each way, for the remaining weekends of 2023.
Tampa native, 44-year-old Randy Vega faces two counts of vehicular homicide by intoxication charges.
He faces these charges for the deaths of Ana Posso Rodriguez and her son, Jonathan Devia.
According to witnesses and an affidavit, on November 25, Vega collided with another car, lost control and crashed into these victims and a gift shop.
