Notre Dame Favored to Win Region 3 AAA This Fall

Chattanooga-(WDEF) High school football kicks off in our area next week.
So before the season gets in gear, the Chattanooga region 3 AAA held their preseason media day Thursday evening at Notre Dame.
Notre Dame was picked to win the Region crown this season by both the coaches and media.
The Irish have to find a new quarterback, but he’ll be surrounded by a talented cast.
Said head coach Charles Fant-“Having somebody like Akil Sledge in the backfield. He’s a big runner. We also have who had a great spring was Caleb Edwards, who was a receiver. We converted him into a running back.”
Red Bank coach Chad Grabowski has brought in two new coordinators, and it has been go-go-go in practice.
Said Grabowski-“Our big theme we said to the kids in practice was tempo. That’s just the way we practice. That’s the way we do things is our tempo and how hard we do things and how fast we do things.”
Signal Mountain only has 28 players on their roster, and head coach Ty Wise hopes the Eagles will stay healthier than last year.
Said Wise-“We played a ballgame last year with one running back. That was it. So we had to completely change our scheme in the middle of the week. When you do that, obviously when you change some things around, it causes a little doubt.”
CCS has a new coach in Mark Mariakis.
He has to find a lot of new play-makers on offense.
Said Mariakis-“85 percent of the yards that were caught or were handed off to graduated.”
John Starr takes over at Howard, and he says the Husltin’ Tigers will play old school football.
Said Starr-“We don’t try to be fancy. We’re going to come out and try to hit you in the nose and make you like it. If you’re willing to stand in there for four quarters with us, so be it.”
Tim James returns to East Ridge.
He inherits Mr. Football award winner at running back in Traneil Moore, who should be back before mid-season due to a knee injury.
Said James-“When you get special kids, those are the guys that make you great coaches. Anytime you have a guy like him, you can give him the ball and let him do his magic.”
