Notre Dame Football Coach Charles Fant Steps Down
Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) Another popular high school football coach in Chattanooga has decided to step down.
Charles Fant announced his resignation at Notre Dame.
Fant coached the Irish for 12 seasons, and he guided the team to their first ever appearance in the state championship game back in 2017.
He also had two of his former players make it to the Super Bowl. Fant is also a teacher at Notre Dame, and he says the teaching-coaching combo was getting tough.
Fant:”Teaching was as fun for me as coaching, but boy it’s demanding when you have so many students. So I’m really hoping my next step to do a lot of coaching. Maybe not as much teaching. Maybe some administrative type things will be fun. It has been amazing. Ever since the word went out, I’ve already had six job offers. It’s crazy to me. It’s really overwhelming is what it is, but I feel very blessed.”
