Notre Dame’s Gaas Herman Continues to Prove He’s One of the Best Players in Chattanooga

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) Notre Dame senior guard Gaas Herman is turning into one of the top players in the Chattanooga area this season. He scored over 30 points Monday night against Calhoun, and he’s averaging a slick 25 points, and ten rebounds a game.

When Matt Matoh took the Notre Dame job last May, he couldn’t believe he was gifted a talent like Gaas herman.
Said Matoh:”Rare do you find those guys in high school basketball especially that are true, three-level scorers. They can play in the midrange, around the basket, and shoot it from three.”
Herman has matured into a complete player, especially from his sophomore days when he was apart of a Notre Dame team that made the state title game.
Said Herman:”When I was a sophomore, I could hide behind my older teammates. This year I have to be more vocal and talk to my guys.”
Nothing pumps Herman up like defense.
Said Herman:”Playing defense. I talk trash afterwards. Get my motor up. Just tell them I’m sorry.”
Sorry. Not sorry fellas.
Said Matoh:”At McCallie earlier this year, he had a big block on McCallie’ big man that got our break going.”
Maybe Herman enjoys defense because he gets so much of it from other teams trying to slow him down.
Said Herman:”Face guarding up the court can be annoying.”
Said Matoh:”I haven’t seen anyone on video that I would want playing for me over Gaas Herman. That’s just about as much about how he is with his character, and what he means to this school and program.”
