Nyziah Whaley Big Facilitator For Baylor Attack

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) Baylor looks to punch their ticket to the state final four tomorrow.
And you can expect Nyziah Whaley to provide the punch for the Red Raiders attack.
Brian Armstrong has more on the Baylor facilitator.

Said head coach Mark Price: “Early on, you could tell he was going to be a special player.”

Nyziah Whaley always seems to make the right basketball decision, whether it’s making a bucket.
Said Whaley :”Um, really, can I take, can I take this guy to the basket, or will they step over and help defense?

Said Price: ” When he first came, he was, you know, It was kind of option one and one a was, you know, with him with the ball in his hands”

Or making the perfect pass for an assist.

Said Whaley: “I feel like I just get people open shot. So and we hit a lot of open shot. So I feel like that helps us win the games.”

Said Price: “He does truly make the other guys around him better. I says turnover ratio is really favorable and all those things have incrementally gotten better for him each year. He’s played in the program and, you know, you know, just the culmination here of his senior season has been fantastic. I’m really proud of his growth and his performance this year.”

His love of basketball started when he was just three years old, thanks to his grandfather.

Said Whaley: “I just like seeing the ball go in the hoop. So I was like, hey, I’m good at it. I’ll try it out, keep trying it. He takes me to every AAU tournament, every game he’s been there, so it’s really just made us grow as a family.

Coach Price says in his eyes, it’s his work ethic that sets him apart.

Said Price: “He’s just so committed to playing basketball. He’s played so much basketball and, um, it’s important to him. Um, he cares about his performance. He’s highly competitive. Um, you know, that’s a quotient that a whole lot of players don’t have. You know, they might be talented, but their, their level of competitiveness to be able to grow and change and continue to evolve is, um, is not what it should be, but his is.”
