October 11th is the Final Day to Register to Vote

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — If you haven’t registered to vote in the upcoming Presidential election, you are almost out of time.
October 11th is the final day you can register to vote.

Kerry Steelman, Administrator of Hamilton County Elections, said community members still have time to register.
“We’ve had approximately 10,000 new registrations since the previous election back in August. Folks will need to bring their ID with them. Residents do need to come here to the election commission office to complete an application. However, they may also go onto our website elect.hamilton.gov and they can print off a registration application and as long as it is post marked today (October 11th, 2016)  then we will be able to process that application.”

Steelman advises people to be mindful of all of the questions and check boxes on the application.

“It’s imperative that they complete the application in its entirety. There are a number of questions that have to be checked off on and that is common mistake we see on applications.”

If  you’re already registered to vote, Steelman said it’s good idea to make sure all of your information is current.

“If there have been any name changes or address changes they can view that on website and have those updated.”
The Hamilton County Election Commissions closes at 7 PM.

Early voting starts October 19th and ends on November 3rd.
