Officers continue chase for Rutherford suspect in Whitwell
UPDATE:
70-80 officers are now on the ground searching for armed robbery suspect Dewayne Halfacre. We now hear that an off duty officer recognized him walking along the side of the road and pulled over. The two got into a fight & Halfacre managed to jump into his squad car and drive off. He got the car stuck trying to make the turn onto Highway 283 at Highway 28. Now officers are searching the woods nearby.

WHITWELL, Tennessee (WDEF) – For the second day in a row, schools in Whitwell are on lockdown as law enforcement search for a suspect from Middle Tennessee.
Timbo Howell and Dewayne Halfacre were wanted for the armed robbery of a market store Friday night in Rutherford County.
Howell was captured in the Whitwell area on Monday, but Halfacre is still on the loose.
The believe he stole a Marion County deputy’s car this morning and got it stuck in the mud at the intersection of Highways 28 and 283.
Now they believe they have him surrounded in the woods near the Sequatchie River.
Law enforcement have called in a THP helicopter, a drone and the SWAT team to aide in the search.
Several area roads are blocked off now in the area.
