Officials: 2 people, 1 dog killed in Clarkesville, Georgia fire

CLARKSVILLE, Ga. (AP) – Authorities say two people and a dog died after a mobile home caught fire in Clarkesville.

The Gainsville Times reports that Habersham County Assistant Fire Chief Jason Davey says firefighters arrived around 6:20 a.m. Monday on Waterway Court to a blaze at a single wide mobile home.

Davy says 28-year-old Adam Jeremiah Chitwood and 44-year-old Tina Marie Chitwood were transported to Habersham Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead.

Davey says one dog died at the scene.

Davy says one firefighter suffered a back injury and was treated and released from a hospital.

The cause of the fire was not released. Officials are investigating.

The Clarkesville Fire Department, Habersham EMS and the Lee Arrendale State Prison fire station responded.
