Officials say power lines on W 20th St. are back up and running again

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – West 20th Street was blocked off for more than a few hours today, after a serious accident left hundreds of homes and businesses without power, phone or internet.

Representatives from EPB said none of their power or fiber optic lines were damaged, but unfortunately Comcast wasn’t so lucky. A large dump truck knocked down several Comcast poles, including their fiber optic lines, leaving the street covered with loose and hanging wires.

"It caught me by surprise, because I didn’t think anything like that would happen," said Felton Chinn, who was working nearby at the time of the accident, "It was crazy. I was helping a customer out and the guy was driving up the street with the bed of the truck up, and it caught the power line, and it just brought all the power lines down."

It took three Comcast trucks to repair the damage, but it didn’t take long to get the internet, cable and phone lines back up and running again.
