OHS boy’s basketball season cancelled over rape scandal

Hamilton County, TN (WDEF) – Hamilton County Schools Superintendent Rick Smith told the School Board Wednesday night at a specially called meeting that the Ooltewah High School boy’s basketball team’s season was canceled.

The public meeting was called to allow people to ask questions about the rape incident.

The Board went into an executive session meeting with it attorneys after Smith’s announcement.

Board Chairman Jonathan Welch gave a brief statement afterwards expressing that the board was upset about this incident and working with authorities.

He adjourned the meeting without any public comment.
