OHS Hearing is not as cut and dry as many would believe

4 Hamilton County administrators, including superintendent Rick Smith, testified today, and listening to the men involved, this isn’t as cut and dry of a situation as many would like to believe it is….

The defense posed questions like, ‘What is knowledge and when does chain of duty to report stop’…. Principal Jarvis was even asked if he would have properly reported the situation…

“With all your experience as a principal, would you have ever thought to call the Department of Children Services in Hamilton County on that Saturday morning?” “No sir,”

Adding more to the confusion surrounding this case, new information was also reveled involving the investigation.

Detective Rodney Burns said “A lot of the stuff that came through the media I don’t even think came from the family. They were just people that called things into the media.”

One of the reports Detective Rodney Burns said was completely false was where it had been reported that a piece of the pool cue had been recovered inside one of the victims.

“And it is not a piece of the pool stick. It is a piece of his clothes. It is a piece of fabric from his clothes.”

And as for the alleged tradition of violent behavior, the detective’s interview with team members paint a bit of a different picture as well.

“Were there any cuts or bruises for what happened down there in Ooltelwah? Well..no..well, were they hitting you hard…well, they were hitting us but not as hard as they could” said Burns.
