One arrested after shots fired near football game in Ooltewah

OOLTEWAH, Tenn. (WDEF) —  One person was arrested after firing shots near a football game at Ooltewah High School (OHS).

Friday, October 11, 2024 at 9:40 p.m., Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) responded to a shots fired all near OHS.

The shots were heard near the tennis courts while a football game was taking place.

Two visiting teams were playing during this time.

HCSO’s School Resource Deputy (SRD) assigned to Ooltewah High School was the first to arrive on scene.

After other deputies arrived, they spoke with suspect, Conner Shannon.

Shannon stated his cousins were getting assaulted, and he fired a shot into the air to break up the fight.

Deputies located two firearms in Shannon’s vehicle.

HCSO reported one of the firearms was a rifle with a spent casing jammed in the chamber.

Shannon was arrested and taken to the Hamilton County Jail & Detention Center.

He’s being charged with Carrying Weapons On School Property and Reckless Endangerment.

Deputies were able to locate two individuals hurt in this incident.

Hamilton County EMS also responded and were able to treat and clear both individuals on scene.
