One dead after Soddy Daisy officer-involved shooting

SODDY DAISY — One person is dead following an officer-involved shooting on March 3, 2026 in Soddy Daisy.

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), an officer with the Soddy Daisy Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the 8600 Block of Dayton Pike around 1:45 a.m.

They say the situation escalated, resulting in the officer firing upon the subject, striking him.

The subject was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

No law enforcement officers were injured in the incident.

TBI agents are working to independently determine the series of events leading to the shooting, including collecting evidence and conducting interviews.

They say throughout the process, investigative findings will be shared with the District Attorney General for her further review and consideration.

The TBI says they act solely as fact-finders in its cases and does not determine whether the actions of an officer were justified in these types of matters. That decision rests with the District Attorney General requesting TBI’s involvement.
