One man arrested after leading authorities on pursuit in stolen vehicle
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A man has been arrested and charged after leading authorities on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle.
At 8:20 p.m., March 2, 2025, deputies with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) tried to conduct a traffic stop for a suspected stolen Hyundai Elantra on Banks Road.
When the driver refused to stop, deputies initiated a pursuit.
This pursuit would eventually end at the intersection of Gillespie Road and Menlo Drive.
According to HCSO, the vehicle crashed into the shrubbery at the intersection.
The driver, later identified as Jalen Baker, was arrested on the scene.
HCSO stated an unknown passenger fled on foot and is still at large.
After further investigation, the Hyundai Elantra had been reported stolen on February 22, 2025 by the Chattanooga Police Department.
Baker was also found to have outstanding warrants from Session’s Court for Theft and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.
He is being charged with the following:
- Felony Evading
- Reckless Driving
- Theft of a Motor Vehicle
- Speeding
- Driving on a Suspended License
- Seat Belt Violation
