One man charged after threatening to shoot himself and his partner
CLEVELAND, Tenn. (WDEF) – Today around 1:04 p.m., the Cleveland Police Department responded to a reported domestic dispute at 541 Linda Drive Southeast.
According to Cleveland Police a female caller said she and her partner got into an argument, when the male subject, identified as Michael Newman, allegedly produced a firearm and threatened to shoot both himself and her.
It was reported to be a 9mm pistol.
They say when officers arrived, the female had safely exited the residence, however, Newman remained inside and refused to come out and reportedly had several other firearms inside.
Due to the severity of the situation, Cleveland Police Department SWAT Team and the Crisis/Hostage Negotiation Unit responded around 1:45.
Negotiators were able to establish phone contact at 3:35 and eventually got Newman to exit the residence peacefully around 4:09.

Police say Newman surrendered without further incident and was taken into custody.
Newman is currently charged with Aggravated Domestic Assault and Disorderly Conduct.
