One small Georgia town hosts the second annual River Fest
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- The second annual Chattooga River Fest was held on Saturday in Trion, Georgia.
The festival is hosted by the Chattooga River group.
The nonprofit hosts the annual event to raise money to improve the beauty, preservation and conservation of the Chattooga River.
The Festival includes a fishing tournament, a kayak paddle, a fish cook-off, vendors and food trucks.
The Chattooga River runs through three states including Chattooga County.
“We’re trying to bring more emphasis to the river by keeping it clean and keeping it up and being able to utilize it more for recreation. A lot of locals already use it for recreation, but we see more and more people interested in kayaking and fishing and things like that and it helps us when we are going after funding and things like that,” said Blake Elsberry, Chattooga County Commissioner.
The festival ended with performances from The Mules and The Atlanta Rhythm Section.
