CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — One person was transported to the hospital following a kitchen fire at a North Chattanooga home.

Blue Shift companies responded to the 900 block of Forest Avenue around 12:30 p.m. on January 28, according to the Chattanooga Fire Department (CFD).

They say a resident of the house rushed to Station 12, which is roughly a block away from the residence, to ask for help.

Officials arrived and reported smoke coming from the home.

The fire spread to the attic of the home, but was able to be stopped.

The resident was taken to the hospital with minor smoke inhalation, CFD says.

The American Red Cross will be assisting two adults and two children displaced by the fire.

CFD says to always “stand by your pan” and never leave your stove unattended when you are frying, boiling, grilling or broiling and distractions can lead to kitchen fires.
