Ooltewah Falls Short of Spring Fling After Losing 6-4 in 10 Innings to Stewarts Creek
Ooltewah-(WDEF) The Ooltewah baseball team was trying to punch their first ticket to Spring Fling since 2006 on Friday night,
but the Owls lost a heart-breaker to Stewarts Creek in the state sectionals.
Ooltewah fell 6-4 in 10 innings.
The Owls got three runs in the first to go up 3-0.
The Red Hawks got two runs in the second and two more in the fourth to go up 4-3.
Ooltewah tied the game in the bottom of the sixth on a sac fly from Sam Zettel.
Game was still tied at four after seven innings.
In the bottom of the ninth, the Owls Andy Reed just missed a solo homer to right center that would have won the game.
Ball was caught on the warning track.
Red Hawks then scored twice in the 10th to win it 6-4.
