Orange Grove Center celebrates America’s 250th Anniversary
“I love Orange Grove, they are good to us and they are good people here. Thank you for coming and we appreciate you all and God bless you. Amen.” says Orange Grove Center client.
Orange Grove Center is taking part in the 250th anniversary of the United States as they come together to celebrate with a little baseball, hot dogs and hamburgers.
“So many celebrations starting to go on this summer. We wanted Orange Grove to have our party and so many people we support celebrate the right to vote and the right to be citizens in this country.” says,Tera Parsons, CEO of Orange Grove.
Orange Grove also had many legislators show up and play some games and show their support.
“We want people with intellectual disabilities to be within the very fabric of everything that happens to the greatest Chattanooga area. And Chattanooga makes that happen, today we have had representative Hakeem and representative Helton and representative Reneau. They are wonderful supporters of Orange Grove and it really does take all branches of government and we’re celebrating those branches today as we reflect on what makes America great.” says, Parsons.
Earlier in the day those same legislators got to see first hand what kind of care Orange Grove provides. They got to tour an intermediate care facility that provides around the clock care for our community’s most vulnerable.
“Orange Grove is iconic around, not just in this area, but around the state of Tennessee nationally it has a long history in this community and people have recognize the care that they provide here for actually decades.” says, Bo Watson, Tennessee State Senator.
80 local people and their families benefit from the program. Orange Grove Center serves more than a thousand adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities and they hope to keep doing that well into the future.
