Orange Grove doctor to speak in front of United Nations Friday

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – A doctor at the Orange Grove Center is set to speak in front of the United Nations on Friday, March 22.

Dr. Rick Raider, who is the director of Orange Grove’s habilitation center, will speak as part of the UN’s focus on International Down Syndrome Day.

Dr. Raider has been at Orange Grove for 30 years and is a researcher developing medical treatments for patients with disabilities.

He plans to speak on how medical education needs to be updated to improve treatments for down syndrome patients and is proud to represent Orange Grove on the international stage.

Dr. Raider said, “It’s an honor, and is also an announcement that Orange Grove is not just the hometown local agency. That we have over the last 70 years, and certainly the last 30 years with the habilitation center, made some great inroads nationally and internationally.”

The speech will be streamed by the UN tomorrow afternoon starting at 3 p.m.
