Orchard Knob Collaborative launches new app
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) awarded the Orchard Knob Collaborative (OKC) funding from their Connected Communities Pilot Program in 2022 to improve on safety, health and ability for older residents to age in place.
Now, The Enterprise Center is celebrating new federally awarded funding to improve type of health and technology access work across other Chattanooga/Hamilton County communities.
“The residence said that they needed a place where they can gather all the information and share with the residence, so everybody knows where to go and where to drop new information,” said Project Manager of Tech Goes Home, C-Grimey.
Members of the Orchard Knob Collaborative are taking a big step forward with the launch of a website and an app as a valuable resource for the community where it will help people find locations of grocery stores, you can schedule doctor’s appointments, and that’s just a piece of what it can do.
“Being able to save time and money is key when it comes to getting work done, especially with a large majority of our neighborhood being older,” said Chattanooga City Councilwoman, Marvene Noel.
While the Orchard Knob neighborhood has a rich history, they have noticed new residents begin to move there. So, the Orchard Knob Collaborative is wanting to help not just the older generations that have lived here for decades, but for the new ones as well.
