Over 100 Rabbits Rescued from Dire Conditions
More than a hundred rabbits are in urgent need of new homes after being discovered in deplorable conditions.
According to McKamey Animal Shelter, the original pet owner became overwhelmed by the sheer number of rabbits in their care. Now, these furry friends are being cared for at an emergency shelter.
“We did see fleas, hair loss and other injuries to the rabbits. That large of a group of rabbits living together is not a recipe for success” said Audra Houghton, director of operations, the Humane Society of the United States..
McKamey Animal Center is calling on the community for support. They’re seeking donations to cover the costs of medical care and supplies, as well as volunteers to help with daily tasks.
“Right now, they are being cared for and evaluated this week, we will have vets on site performing care tasks and making sure everyone is happy and healthy” said Lauren Mann the director of advancement of McKamey Animal Shelter.
