Parent arrested after Soddy Daisy Middle School threats

SODDY DAISY, Tenn. (WDEF) —  The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) reported a parent of a current student at Soddy Daisy Middle School was arrested for making threats against the school.

Today, September 5, 2024, the parent in question made a statement to the school counselor, “I’m ready to come up there and burn thatScreenshot 2024 09 05 191659 school down.”

HCSO and the School Resource Deputy (SRD) assigned to the school were made aware of the statement and began an investigation.

The SRD took statements from witnesses and determined there was enough probable cause to make an arrest.

Sarah Morton, was arrested and taken to the Hamilton County Jail.

She’s being charged with Threats of Mass Violence.

HCSO also reported Morton had contacted a medical professional back in August of 2024.

During a conversation with that medical professional, Morton stated she, “will drive her car through the front of the school.”

There are no active threats to students or faculty at this time.
