More people report getting sick at River Drifters restaurant

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – More people are coming forward to say they got sick at the River Drifters restaurant on the Tennessee River.

The new restaurant on Suck Creek Road has taken precautions against further contamination from bad well water.

And they remain open.

But the Health Department says 47 people have now reported getting sick after eating there (as of Wed. afternoon).

The Health Department does not verify those claims by testing, since the restaurant has addressed the problem.

And they cannot absolutely say it was the contaminated well water that caused the norovirus outbreak.

It could have just been a sick employee.

But they say the restaurant has taken steps to address both possibilities so Health officials are satisfied with the outcome.
