Phil Massey Leaving CCS to Take Head Coaching Job at Briarcrest Christian

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) After one season as the head football coach at Chattanooga Christian, Phil Massey is stepping down in order to take the head coaching job at Briarcrest Christian in Memphis.

Massey took the Chargers to the semifinals of the state playoffs last year, which was the best year in school history. Prior to going to CCS, Massey was the head coach at Baylor. But now Massey will get to experience a homecoming heading to Briarcrest.

Said Massey:”I’ve got family in Memphis, but still have family here too in Chattanooga. So it was a very difficult decision, but it’s an opportunity to go back home. I grew up in Memphis. First started coaching in Memphis. Then spent my first 20 years of high school coaching all in West Tennessee. So there’s some familiarity and a lot of friends back there.”
