Photo of Atlanta police officer asleep on job goes viral

ATLANTA (CBS News) — A photo of an Atlanta police officer apparently sleeping on the job went viral over the weekend, reports CBS affiliate WGCL.

Posted on local Twitter account @GAFollowers late Sunday morning, the photo shows the unnamed officer slumped over inside his police vehicle, appearing to be asleep.

The photo quickly went viral, prompting the Atlanta Police Department to respond. (The photo had over 600 retweets and over 700 likes as of Tuesday afternoon.)

@GAFollowers Yes we are aware. We have identified him and are taking appropriate action.

“We have identified him and are taking appropriate action,” the department replied in a Twitter post, without naming the officer.
