Pilot from river crash buried at Chattanooga National Cemetery
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – A former Marine aviator received a special honor this afternoon as he was laid to rest at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Retired Captain Frank Davey of Soddy Daisy lost his life last week when his small private aircraft crashed into the Tennessee River.
It took several days to recover the bodies of Davey and his passenger, Lynda Marinello.
Both were once teachers at Notre Dame High school.
Today, as the service concluded, three aircraft from the Hixson Museum of Flight, flown by Davey’s friends, did a fly-over at the cemetery as a traditional salute to a fallen comrade.
Frank Davey was 68.
