Plastic Surgeon helping children with facial deformities returns to Chattanooga
CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee (WDEF) – A plastic surgeon globally recognized for helping children who were born with severe facial deformities has returned to Chattanooga.
“Well, that’s always been my passion to help kids with facial deformities. I’ve been doing that for over 30 years,” said Sargent.
Plastic surgeon Dr. Larry Sargent has spent the last five years in Salt Lake City, Utah but, is now back in Chattanooga.
“Which is very different. The culture is different there. The people are different and there’s no place like the south so I’m really excited to be back in Chattanooga,” said Sargent.
He is continuing his work with kids from all over the world proving craniofacial surgeries.
“It’s very rewarding and it’s really heartwarming to see the results and change these kids’ lives,” said Sargent.
When treating patience such as kids with facial deformities the advancement in technology allows for innovation.
“I think that you have to stay current. Craniofacial surgery is a very young field and so they’ve been tremendous changes and we’ve done all kind of advancements particularly with the computer technology analyzing the deformity with the CT scans, 3-D models, 3-D printing and we’re going to emphasize some of that and the documentary to show the technological advances that have been made,” said Sargent.
It also extends to cosmetic surgery.
“The techniques of craniofacial surgery were designed and improved to help patients with facial deformities but those techniques have also improved the results to do in cosmetic surgery,” said Sargent.
Sargent now has a full-time practice. His new office, located at 2290 Ogletree Ave. Suite 112. He said it has a state-certified operative suite for all cosmetic procedures.
