Point-in-Time survey conducted with local homeless population

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Chatt Foundation participated in the Point-in-Time count by surveying those experiencing homelessness in Hamilton County.

Every year, communities across the U.S. collect data to see what is needed from the homeless.

The homeless population is asked about their housing and medical needs.

The Chatt Foundation is monitoring homeless areas that need improvement in 2024.

“We are looking to see what we can do and connect with other partners and developers and discover ways that we can maximize what Chattanooga Hamilton County and the surrounding counties have to offer to meet the needs of those that are being underserved at this time,” said Vanessa Blevins, Chief Financial Officer for the Chatt Foundation.

Those who participated in the survey then received care packets, jackets and blankets.

One year ago, the survey revealed that 785 people were homeless in Hamilton County. Homelessness amounts were down nearly 40% from the year prior.
