Police arrest suspect for September Bonny Oaks shooting

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chattanooga Police have made an arrest in a fatal shooting that happened last month in Bonny Oaks.

It happened outside a bar on Bonny Oaks Drive around 2:40 a.m. on September 24.

Chattanooga Police held a press conference on Wednesday morning to further discuss the arrest.

Tavarious Johnson was shot after greeting two other men outside the bar, police said.

Police viewed surveillance video of the incident.

They say it showed one of the men concealing a handgun and then shooting the victim with it.

Investigators charged 33-year-old Deangelo Labron Lovingood with the murder on Tuesday.

A police spokesman today said they are still investigating whether the suspect knew the victim before the shooting.
