Police arrest suspect in Volkswagen Drive shootings

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chattanooga Police have arrested a suspect in the shooting last week on Volkswagen Drive.

 

Two men (31 & 19 years old) were in a vehicle near the Volkswagen parking lots when they were shot.

 

It happened on Monday, April 11 just before 11PM.

 

At the time, police described their wounds as non-life threatening.

 

And they say they believe the victims were targeted, not random.

 

Investigators have charged 20 year old Lamel Billups with the shootings.

 

He faces charges of  Attempted 1st Degree Murder (x3), Aggravated Assault (x3), Felony Reckless Endangerment, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.

 

Police are not releasing information on a possible motive or the possibility of a third person in the vehicle.
