Police arrest wanted fugitive, recover stolen car
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man on Wednesday who was in possession of a stolen vehicle. According to police, the man was a wanted fugitive.
A sheriff’s deputy arrested 40-year-old Jamaul Herman within a business on the 500 block of East MLK Boulevard.
An automated license plate reader alerted the deputy that a parked Chevrolet Aveo in this area may be stolen. Police determined that Herman was associated with this stolen car.
Hamilton County deputies found Herman in a nearby business. They then verified there were warrants for his arrest and detained him.
Herman had prior warrants for his arrest for the following charges:
- Aggravated robbery
- Aggravated assault
- Theft of property
- Interference with 911
- Unlawful possession of a handgun
The sheriff’s office recovered the stolen car and returned it to the owner.
They also transported Herman to the Hamilton County Jail.
