Police chase ends with 2 arrested and seized fentanyl

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — Hamilton County deputies arrested two people during a police chase on I-75 Tuesday.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) said a black sedan was traveling north on I-75 with no taillights.

Around 1 a.m., the deputy tried to stop the vehicle at Exit 11. But the deputy said as soon as they turned their blue lights on, the suspect steered back onto I-75 and sped off. The HCSO said they reached speeds of 100 mph.

The sedan’s right rear tire blew near mile marker 17 but continued to flee the deputies.

On Villa Drive Northwest, the driver fled on foot but surrendered about 25 yards from his car, the HCSO said.

Deputies identified the driver as Nicholas Fairbanks. They arrested him and charged him with “failure to appear,” according to the sheriff’s office. They also arrested the passenger, Jessica Cameron. The sheriff’s office did not reveal what her charges are yet.

However, both suspects had active warrants.

And the sheriff’s office said they found 13 fentanyl tablets, marijuana and plenty of cash in the vehicle.

They expect more charges to come as well.
