Police chase in Collegedale results in arrest of car theft suspect
COLLEGEDALE, Tenn. (WDEF) — A lengthy pursuit resulted in the arrest of a man for stealing a car out of Chattanooga, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities arrested 22-year-old Datayvian Scott, who they identified as the driver of the car. He now faces numerous charges.
Friday morning at around 3 a.m., deputies spotted the stolen gray Honda Accord in Hamilton County. They began to follow the car, which then sped away, initiating a pursuit, according to the sheriff. Collegedale officers joined the pursuit as well.
HCSO said the pursuit began on Ooltewah-Ringgold Road and continued through Collegedale. Deputies performed a PIT maneuver and ended the chase on Ferdinand Piech Way.
They added that Scott tried to hit deputies and Collegedale officers with his car three times.
He faces the following charges from Hamilton County.
- Theft of property
- Aggravated assault
- Evading arrest
- Reckless driving
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Numerous other driving related violations
HCSO said he faces additional charges from Collegedale Police as well.
The vehicle’s owner reported it stolen just days earlier, the sheriff’s office stated.
