Man arrested in mail theft case, police chase

Red Bank Police have now charged a suspect in the mail theft case.

Authorities arrested Jashun Morris and booked him into the Hamilton County Jail.

Morris faces the following charges.

  • Theft of property (10,000-59,999)
  • Identity theft, forgery
  • Fraudulent use of credit card
  • Criminal impersonation
  • Felony evading
  • Misdemeanor evading
  • Resisting stop, frisk, halt

RED BANK, Tenn. (WDEF) – Authorities are still looking for suspects who they say were spotted stealing mail Monday night.

The incident happened at the Red Bank Post Office early Monday morning.

Local police responded to the report of stealing mail and spotted a vehicle matching the description.

They chased it for a while, but the suspects jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot. They got away, according to police.

Red Bank police then found numerous items of mail inside the abandoned vehicle.

They now are working with the U.S. Postal Inspectors Office on the case.
