Police identify Nashville shooter and victims
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WDEF) — Nashville Police identified the Covenant School shooter as 28-year-old Audrey Elizabeth Hale. Police identified the victims as well.
The six victims of the shooting are as follows:
- Evelyn Dieckhaus, 9 years old.
- Hallie Scruggs, 9 years old.
- William Kinney, 9 years old.
- Cynthia Peak, 61 years old.
- Katherine Koonce, 60 years old.
- Mike Hill, 61 years old.
The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said their officers entered the building and followed the sounds of gunfire to the second floor. They then engaged with Hale and fatally shot her.
They stated that Hale entered the school through a side entrance. Nashville Police also said Hale was carrying two assault rifles and a handgun.
She killed three 9-year-old children and three staff members.
Though the police identified Hale as a female, her LinkedIn has he/him pronouns.
The Covenant School is a private Presbyterian school, with about 200 students. It is a Pre-K through 6th grade school.
Government officials throughout the nation have responded to the incident, expressing their condolences as well.
