Chattanooga Police looking for suspect who shot police officer 3 times
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – A Chattanooga police officer was shot this morning in East Chattanooga.
Chief Fred Fletcher says that several officers were going through an abandoned building looking at Mission Avenue and Chamberlain Ave at 9:20 AM, looking for squatters.
When the officer left the building, he was shot three times.
He got himself to the hospital.
The officer was released from the hospital by noon.
Right now, police are asking the public’s help to locate a suspect in the shooting.
The chief describes him as a black male with medium build and complexion.
5’10” to 6′.
He is wearing dark pants with a dark sweatshirt with hood. The sweatshirt has cursive wording on front.
He was last seen in the Mission & Glenwood Ave. area.

There is a $1000 reward.
Right now, several intersections are blocked on Chamberlain, with lots of police cars on the move.
Avoid the area behind Memorial Hospital if possible.
