Police Say Man Jumped from Market Street Bridge

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Witnesses say a man jumped from the Market Street Bridge today.
Search and rescue teams from the Chattanooga Fire Department, Hamilton County STARS, and the Dallas Bay Fire Department Dive Team responded.
Sources close to the scene say the individual took off his shoes and a bracelet, then leaped to the water below.
Hamilton County EMS says bystanders witnessed the man briefly surface, and then disappear below the water.
Crews on the boats spent hours trawling up and down the river, but no body was recovered.
Why the individual jumped is currently unknown.
