Police seek identification of person in Rainsville standoff
Police are trying to identify a man who they say shot himself during a standoff on a downtown Rainsville street this afternoon.
It began in Scottsboro Alabama when a plate reader identified a stolen car.
Police chased the suspect up the mountain until he hit another vehicle in downtown Rainsville.
The Police Chief says they saw the man had a gun, so they backed off.
But when he started firing shots inside the vehicle, they fired gas into it.
The Chief says the man then shot himself.
He is in stable condition.
No one else was harmed in the chase.
