Chattanooga police say suspect stole cop car and got away
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Chattanooga police say a suspect got away in a stolen police car Monday morning.
They got a call around 5:20 a.m. about shots fired in the 1800 block of Jackson Street.
They learned a suspect fired multiple shots into a home and then fled on foot.
A responding officer spotted someone matching the suspect’s description in the 500 block of North Hawthorne Street.
Police say that suspect resisted arrest and then jumped into the officer’s vehicle and drove off.
Police found the squad car abandoned on Fourth Avenue.
Nothing was missing from it, except for the driver.
Officers did discover two firearms on North Hawthorne.
