Polk County woman charged with child abuse of one year old

BENTON, Tennessee (WDEF) – Polk County investigators have charged Jessica Lee Mendez with aggravated child abuse and neglect.

The investigation began after a call from T.C. Thompson’s hospital.

They reported a one year old suffering from a variety of broken bones, many of which had already begun healing.

There were multiple skull fractures, broken ribs, a broken arm, upper leg fracture, wrist fracture, black eyes and various bruisingon the shoulder and ears.

Sheriff’s officers teamed with DCS and the District Attorney’s Office to investigate and bring the charges against Mendez.
