Polk County’s Rick Tyler Calls a News Conference

Rick Tyler is a U-T educated engineer who lives in Polk county.
He’s running as an independent against 3rd District Congressman Chuck Fleischmann–but his name is suddenly known around the country.
One of Tyler’s campaign slogans is–“Make America White Again.”
Tyner held a news conference Monday to lay-out his platform.

RICK TYLER, CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE “In the name of whatever it is they think they represent, they hate me with such a blind rage that if they could get away with , there’s no hesitation in my mind, they would kill me.”

Rick Tyler told a news conference this afternoon that his controversial billboards and his belief that America now allows a double standard when it comes to races, has opened him to threats from many sources.

RICK TYLER “I’m here to reiterate to everybody–friend and for alike, that the time of the unchallenged double-standard is over. This is a double standard, and it has gone quietly unchallenged for many, many years, that time is over.”

Tyler’s billboards in Polk county have been removed but there are plenty of photos remaining. They spurred locals as well as people outside his district and around the country to quickly deny his beliefs.

BRITTANY PATTERSON, POLK CO. RESIDENT “I was driving down and saw that he was here and I can’t believe for one that he’s even still being given publicity.”

Citing the constitution, Tyner told reporters that he’s not being given the chance to get his entire message across.

RICK TYLER “The first amendment of the bill of rights guarantees the God-given right to free speech, and yet a cacophony of angry voices wants to summarily silence my expression of sincere, heart-felt conviction.”

Congressman Fleischmann’s office and other state leaders have distanced themselves from Tyler.
Critics says his “make America white again” is patterned on GOP candidate Donald Trump’s “make America Great again” slogan.
Tyner explains his real goal is to return to a more peaceful period.
