Prescribed burn on Maclellan Island March 12
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Chattanooga Audubon Society with support from the Chattanooga Fire Department and CDOT will be conducting a prescribed burn on Maclellan Island March 12.
It will start at 8 in the morning tomorrow and last into the middle of Tuesday afternoon.
The weather should be ideal, but you may see smoke rising over Veteran’s Bridge.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane in both directions.
The American flags have been removed from the bridge. They will be put back up after the burn.
Prescribed burns emulate natural fire cycles.
They play a pivotal role in revitalizing forests and preserving our ecological equilibrium.
