President Biden teases Dalton visits for groundbreaking in MTG’s district

DALTON, Georgia (WDEF) – Is President Joe Biden coming to Dalton?

He promised he would in his speech yesterday in South Carolina.

The President quipped that one of the biggest solar supply chain investments from his infrastructure bill was being built by Qcells in Dalton.

He noted that the plant is being built in Marjorie Taylor Green’s district.

And then said “I’ll be there for the groundbreaking.”

The White House later said they didn’t have any dates for the trip.

A Whitfield County Commissioner told the Dalton Daily Citizen that he thinks the President was just tweeking Representative Taylor, because there is no groundbreaking planned because the building is already going up.

But the President of Qcells said he would be honored to host the President, or any other official to show off their work.

In January, the company hosted Governor Brian Kemp to announce their expansion promising more than 500 more jobs.

When it’s all done, Qcells expects to employ 1,500 people in Whitfield County.
