President Jimmy Carter Asks For Support For Grandson Jason Carter Running For Georgia Governor
President Jimmy Carter,"I mentioned earlier that Georgia has the most powerful governorship in the nation by far, if the governor of Georgia is a democrat it has a major impact on bringing democratic leadership to other states as well and vice versa I might say."
The 2002 nobel peace prize winner said he is disappointed at the current state of Georgia education and feels his grandson Jason Carter a candidate for Governor can bring about change.
"We’ve lost 45000 young people from vocational education because the HOPE scholarship was taken away, the middle income families of Georgia have lost 6300 dollars annually income" added President Carter.
President Carter was the first guest speaker back in 1974 at the Annual Chattanooga Kefauver Dinner which is now it’s 40th year.
One of the event organizers Stuart James spoke passionately as the president made his way back to his seat.
"We go to Atlanta we go to Catoosa County to Whitfield County to Dade County guess what will happen, we will have a democrat as the governor of the state of Georgia".
The fundraiser attracted interest from across East Tennessee and surrounding areas.
With just over two weeks to go until election day, the majority of polls have both Jason Carter and Governor Nathan Deal neck and neck.
President Carter at 90 years of age has also hit the campaign trail talking about his grandson at Georgia churches in recent weeks.
