WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) — The Whitfield County Board of Commissioners have announced a proposed property tax increase.

They say it would be roughly 23 percent higher than the rollback millage rate.

The commissioners say that their adopted budget requires this increase, as the rollback millage rate would not yield enough revenue.

There will be three public hearings to discuss this increase.

These will be next Friday at noon, and the following Friday at noon and 6 p-m.

All three meetings will be at the Wells Fargo Building on Hamilton Street in Dalton.
