Protecting money for upcoming holiday travel

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee (WDEF) – According to the booking app Hopper, if you’re planning on traveling this Thanksgiving, book before Halloween, or expect to pay 40% more for flights.

Being a trend and information we’ve been seeing related to booking travel and it’s going to be more expensive the longer that you wait,” said Meghan Walch.

This comes as more people are willing to travel as compared to last year.

“We’ve all been cooped up in our houses for the past 18+ months so we’re definitely seen a lot of people wanting to get out,” said Walch.

While peoples are more willing to travel than this time last year, there are still concerns surrounding Covid-19 and travel, which is where she suggests canceling for any reason travel insurance.

“There are eligibility requirements. You have to insure the whole cost of your trip. It is a time sensitive benefit so you want to be purchasing your plan usually within 10 to 21 days after making an initial payment or deposit toward your trip,” said Walch.

She said certain travel insurance plans allow people to save money by booking now but also protect themselves from losing money if they need to cancel for any reason.

“Booking flights hotels all of that it’s a financial investment. A lot of the plans we offer to help to cover the cost that you may be paying all those and there are different types of plants for different types of trips and again it can help protect your financial investment,” said Walch.
