Sams will be sworn in at the Mayor and Council meeting at 6 p.m.

Prior to the meeting, there will be a reception, in which the public can meet Mayor-Elect Sams. The reception will begin at 5 p.m. at the City Hall lobby.

There will be light refreshments at the reception.

Mayor-Elect Sams stepped down from city council in 2023 after serving six years as a member. She stepped down to run for mayor.

“I was on a great team and I’m glad to be back on a great team,” Sams said. “From City staff to the elected officials, I’ve been a part of a great group of people for six years and I’m glad to get to rejoin them.”

The reception will also honor city councilmembers Tyree Goodlett and Dennis Mock, who were re-elected in November.
