Puppies Found in Sealed Plastic Bin

HIXSON, Tenn. (WDEF)-  Five puppies are lucky to be alive after they were found in sealed plastic bin along the roadway in Hixson.

A woman found the dogs near Highway 153 and brought them to McKamey Animal Center.

“We’re not quite sure what caught her eye that made her go and check that box out. It was getting hot fast yesterday so much longer and they definitely would have shown signs of more dehydration”, said McKamey Animal Center Director Jamie McAloon.

McAloon said the pups are so young they still are dependent upon McKamey staff to take care of them.

“They can’t go a long period of time because they get dehydrated so you’ve got to start feeding them on a regular basis. Also, they need the mom to help them with the cleaning procedures. Everything a puppy needs to nurture and grow is important.”

McKamey officials said  the person who did this could face charges.

“It’s possible. We want to talk to them first. It is possible if they did this with malicious intent.”

McKamey officials tell News 12 the five  puppies are in foster care and there’s a long waiting list to adopt each pup.
There is a $300 reward for anyone who knows information about this incident
